We Coach TENNIS Radio Show — October 7th, 2012

Our guest this evening is the legendary Dennis Ralston (born July 27, 1942 in Bakersfield, California). Dennis is an former professional tennis player who attended the University of Southern California (USC) and won NCAA championships. He was coached in his earlier years by the legendary tennis player, Pancho Gonzales. He was the highest-ranked American player at the end of three consecutive years in 1960s with his career-high singles ranking of World No. 5.

Sunday, October 7th, 2012 Dennis Ralston on We Coach TENNIS

Join J.P. Weber Sunday evening for the second interview this week on the UR10S Network with Coach Dennis Ralston. Dennis appeared this past Wednesday on American Tennis with Coach Chuck Kriese. Mr. Ralston was born 1942 in Bakersfield, California.  Coach Ralston played at the University of Southern California (USC) and helped them to win the NCAA championships.

The "Little Mo" program is exactly what we need in this country.... For me, I have been applauding the "Little Mo" tournaments rather than trying to find a way to negate them. We just need about 1000 "Little Mo" tournaments around the country.

The kids should have a choice. Either play regular tennis or play miniature tennis. Give people a choice. If their system is so great people will freely join them. That is what this country is built on.

Dave Fish–Harvard Men’s Tennis Coach–on the Universal Rating System

Competitive tennis in the U.S. is far more splintered now than in a small country like France. The challenges we face in a very splintered U.S. system are different…an independent rating system that is embraced by college coaches, especially one that potentially measures a player’s results from any competitive system (open, high school, college, international, sanctioned or unsanctioned), is the critical first step to making a more robust American competitive pathway available to all serious players, including the thousands of kids we hope will come into the game through 10U efforts.
