We Coach TENNIS — November 18th, 2012

The guest tonight is the one and only Justin Gimelstob. We were finally able to connect with Justin and some say it was our best show yet. I was worried throughout the show if was I was going to be able to pull it off and do a good enough job to keep Justin interested and I think we did that on the show tonight.

John Embree

John Embree is the new CEO of the USPTA. He is a very nice guy but what he has in common with the normal tennis coach in the United States is beyond me? I am going to look forward to seeing what he is going to do for the Association and where he will guide it going forward in the next few years. I do not have an axe to grind and I do not want it to seem like I have a chip on my shoulder–I write this just as an observation and because it is getting close to the time I have to write another check for my dues with the USPTA. I always find myself wondering why I pay the dues each year. I do not think this should be the way one should feel about the organization. The dues should be worth the expense and you can get the same thing from the PTR and they are nicer on the phone when you call in and everyone there remembers everyone’s name. For $20.00 per year you could join the United States High School Tennis Coaches Association and they give you a nice workbook and they might still do insurance.

We Coach TENNIS — November 4th, 2012

Our guest tonight is the former Head Men’s Tennis Coach J.W. Isenhour. Mr. Isenhour is the former Head Coach of N.C. State Men’s Tennis Team from 1968-81. Isenhour also led the women team through three successful seasons, while bringing N.C. State Tennis from near obscurity into the limelight. Isenhour’s men’s teams compiled back-to-back ACC championships in 1978 and 1979 – the lone pair of championships in school history. N.C. State recently opened the J.W. Isenhour Tennis Center in his honor.

Justin Gimelstob Is On The Show!

Justin Gimelstob was born in 1977, in Livingston, New Jersey. He began to play tennis at age eight, and he was the top-ranked boy in his age group by 12 years of age. He was top-ranked boy in the USA in his respective age group at the ages of 12, 14, 16, and 18.
