And Happy New Year and hope you and your family have had a wonderful Holiday Season . . .Have received a few e mails, texts and calls from coaches across the country lately saying that Kurt Kamperman is saying Coach Bryan only feels there are 1,000 kids in the US who should be playing with regulations tennis balls. I would like to make the record crystal clear here:

Tonight we have a very special guest with Jerry Baskin coming on the show. As humble as they come Jerry Baskin has been coaching tennis in the Atlanta area for close to 40 years. During this time period Jerry has been able to help numerous junior tennis players achieve a level of excellence unparalleled in the Southern Section of the USTA and perhaps even on a National level. Another exchange between Lawrence Roddick and Wayne Bryan regarding the 10 and Under Mandate. It appears the USTA is really digging in it’s heels on the matter. All over the globe the mandate has been met with resistance from knowledgable coaches and in the USA there is no exception to this. I cannot find 1 out of 10 I speak to who think the mandate is a good idea. Below is Roddick in black and Wayne Bryan is in blue. Read more…
Here is another great correspondence between Blanche Roddick and Wayne Bryan regarding the 10 and Under mandate. To my way of thinking this is exactly as they describe it. It is sooooooooooo stupid to have this thing brought in as a mandate. But they over reached when they put it in to play. They told schools, parks and clubs this is the mandate and We Are Sticking To It! We now know there was no true and real research done regarding the mandate and it was an idea hatched from ITF and USTA people who could not coach their way out of a brown paper bag.
Ms. Roddick is in Black and Wayne is in Blue.
On this evening (with our guest connection suffering) J.P. Weber takes to the microphone and reads Robert Davis’ satirical story on playing the ATP tour and improving in the game of tennis. The story involves two players: Scotty Scramble and Willy Wanker. Scotty Scramble is the hard working player who wants to learn and desires to become better through the process. Willy Wanker just wants to be good and quick and does not care how he gets there.
Our guest tonight on the show is Vic Braden. Coach Vic Braden has over 70 years in the field teaching tennis. Coach Braden has spent a great deal of time helping tennis players to maximize their performance and enjoyment of tennis. Vic is a licensed psychologist in California. **The first 30-40 minutes of the audio is a little tough but it clears up after that period.
