Here is yet another email from Dr Ray Brown. But this one is special because it comes with an answer from the one and only Robert Lansdorp. Robert takes issue with the idea the parents are to blame and instead says the problems originate with the coaches. Coach Lansdorp’s answer is in green as a response.

I get a kick out of the different coaches around the tennis world who have begun to amass all sorts of credentials for themselves as coaches through various avenues.
Some great email correspondence from Wayne Bryan regarding pertinent stuff on the 10 and Under Mandate! This gives you practical experience. I know my friend Lisa Stone from Parenting Aces feels like the USTA has done a great thing for tennis and the 10 and Under Mandate has shown to be successful but I think many of the best coaches out there will beg to differ. I know I do. I believe it will hurt tennis in the long run more than help it.
The guest tonight is the one and only Justin Gimelstob. We were finally able to connect with Justin and some say it was our best show yet. I was worried throughout the show if was I was going to be able to pull it off and do a good enough job to keep Justin interested and I think we did that on the show tonight.
John Embree is the new CEO of the USPTA. He is a very nice guy but what he has in common with the normal tennis coach in the United States is beyond me? I am going to look forward to seeing what he is going to do for the Association and where he will guide it going forward in the next few years. I do not have an axe to grind and I do not want it to seem like I have a chip on my shoulder–I write this just as an observation and because it is getting close to the time I have to write another check for my dues with the USPTA. I always find myself wondering why I pay the dues each year. I do not think this should be the way one should feel about the organization. The dues should be worth the expense and you can get the same thing from the PTR and they are nicer on the phone when you call in and everyone there remembers everyone’s name. For $20.00 per year you could join the United States High School Tennis Coaches Association and they give you a nice workbook and they might still do insurance.
Our guest tonight is A.J. Pant. Mr. Pant is currently the General Manager for the Tennis Center at College Park, Maryland. Prior to his current position, Pant was the National Tennis Director for Tennis Corporation Of America (TCA). Ajay was with Tennis Corporation Of America for 18 years and also served as Head Tennis Professional, Club Manager and General Manager for TCA clubs in Chicago and other parts of the United States.
