We Coach TENNIS — November 25th, 2012

Our guest on this 25th episode of We Coach TENNIS with J.P. Weber is Dr. Micheal Kernodle. Dr. Kernodle is a professor of in the Physical Education Department at Appalachian State University in Boone, N.C. Dr. Kernodle has a PhD, in Kinesiology from the University of Illinois.

 

Mike Kernodle grew up in Virginia and his father was the Head Men’s Tennis Coach at the College of William and Mary. His mother was active in tennis as well and started the Williamsburg Tennis Association. Mike played tennis as a junior and went on to play collegiate tennis at the University of North Carolina for Coach Cliff Skakle. After playing tennis for North Carolina Mike went on to play on the professional tour in various parts of the world. He was actually selected to be one of the first American players to tour professionally on the African continent.

Dr. Kernodle received a Masters in Physical Education and B.A. in History from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Dr. Kernodle’s teaching specialties are in Motor Learning, Motor Development, Sports Sociology, Net/Wall Games. Dr. Kernodle achieved the Master Professional rating with the United States Professional Tennis Association.
